    ABOUT THE ARTIST

    Matt Andrews was raised in rural Waxhaw, NC where passing time meant going into the woods, playing in creeks, and drawing. After earning a BFA in Visual Communication Design / Illustration from Winthrop University, he has worked as a designer and freelancer since 2012. Now living in Easley, SC, Matt enjoys painting en plein air, urban sketching (with the group Urban Sketchers Greenville), and simply documenting life through art. As of October 2024, Matt began competing and winning awards in various plein air festivals across the Southeast. This exhibition follows his journey from being “just an illustrator” to becoming a practiced and accomplished plein air artist. The exhibit also offers a glimpse into his experience traveling the art festival circuit.
